I just finished reading The Trouble With Fate. I absolutely loved it. It was such a fantastic book. Heidi is a
character you can really relate to. She’s flawed; she’s scared, a liar, and a thief. She’s not some perfect beauty with all the answers and I like that. Thank you for writing such a great novel and I can’t wait for the next one. — Samantha
Dear Samantha,
Before I was a writer, I was a reader. Over the course of a few decades, I developed some theories on writers. I thought they were all hugely clever (Leigh Evans got 39% on her final chemistry exam), that words oozed from them (Leigh Evans spends a good portion of the day staring blankly at her monitor), and that they all knew they were gosh-darn awesome. They probably got fan letters in droves. Should I bother to pen one, mine would be buried. Probably read, some five years later, by some intern the writer hired to clear out her email box.
I read your contact form this morning. Still wearing my nightie, one purring cat balanced in my arms, the other doing a parade over my keyboard.
I smiled, feeling gratified and happy. Then, before shambling to the kitchen for a coffee, I hit reply. THAT’s how much I wanted to say, “Hey Samantha, thanks!!”
Sadly, the email bounced. Three times. (Who me? I’m not co-dependent or needy)
Anyhow, here I am, thinking of you again. Some hours later. Today, shall be known as Samantha Sunday:-)
Thank
s.
Leigh
Now, back to deadline hell.
